Osimhen wants to join Chelsea – Mikel

Former midfielder John Obi Mikel has hinted that Napoli star Victor Osimhen has his sights set on a move to Chelsea ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old Nigerian striker is expected to depart from Napoli at the end of the season, having recently stated to the press that he has already made a decision regarding his next move. Osimhen signed a new contract with Napoli in December, which reportedly includes a release clause ranging from €120-130m.

Osimhen has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer, with Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United among the clubs reportedly interested in his services.

Speaking at the Web Summit Qatar via Calciomercato.com, Mikel discussed the potential transfer of Osimhen to Chelsea.

"I believe there is genuine interest from both sides. I'm convinced that Victor has a desire to join Chelsea; it seems he wants to follow in the footsteps of Nigerian players who have previously represented Chelsea, such as Victor Moses and Celestine Babayaro..."

Mikel also touched upon the interest from other clubs in signing Osimhen this summer.

"He's attracting attention from several clubs, including PSG and Manchester United, but I'm doing my part by sending him messages and trying to ensure that Chelsea remains his top choice!"
